Our Pillars

Our pillars of ACCESS, ENGAGEMENT, DIGITAL & DATA and PARTNERSHIPS are underpinned by the foundational pillar of our PEOPLE.

PEOPLE: “We’re Awesome” Our people are the heart of everything we do.

“We’re Passionate” Patients can’t wait! We want to extend and accelerate access to our medicines. Success is twice as many patients, twice as fast.

“We’re curious” We need to become an even more patient and customer obsessed organisation.

“We’re Agile” Digital and data technologies and capabilities are fundamental to our success.

“We’re Open” We can’t do it alone! External partnerships are key to extending our capabilities and influence.

1. Patients at Centre

We’re inspired and motivated to make difference for patients. Our customers sit at the interface with the patient, so we need to obsess about understanding our customers to facilitate the best outcome for patients.

2. Patients caught in the maze

All of us would have an experience of being (or caring for) a patient at one time or another. Patients can’t wait by getting stuck or trapped in the maze of the healthcare system, particularly if this means waiting for a diagnosis.

3. Our pipeline of transformative innovation

We transform lives with medicines that are either first in class or best in class. We have the best pipeline in the industry; for common and chronic diseases and we are leaders in Cell and Gene Therapy.

4. We want to be a launch powerhouse

In 2021 we are preparing to launch Kesimpta + Mayzent (MS), Beovu (Macular Degeneration) and Leqvio (Familial hypercholesterolemia). We also have a focused, agile launch model to bring our transformative Gene therapy pipeline to patients. We have an obligation to extend and accelerate access to our medicines. Our measure is transforming the standard of care for twice as many patients, twice as fast.

5. Internal block busting

We have to simplify and we need to break down barriers. We need to become more externally focused, curious and unbossed in our approach. At the PEC table we want to hear about your internal barriers and push down decision making so our associates are empowered to get on with their job.

6. The changing healthcare landscape

With the landscape in increasing flux (particularly as a result of COVID-19), we have the innovation and talent to play a leading role in shaping the future of healthcare and of models of access to treatment. We must win for patients, win for the healthcare professionals and win for the healthcare system i.e. The Triple Win!

7. Digital access to health data is changing patient and HCP experiences, needs and expectations

Medical information is more accessible to everyone nowadays. Digitally empowered patients are becoming more aware, health consumers and demanding better care.

8. The stakeholder landscape is changing

We must find high value add solutions to help government provide high quality health services and manage expenditure.

9. Being curious through our engagement with patients and HCPs

Customer obsession is critical. The 2021 Big Bold Objective for the Pharma Leadership Team (PEC) is “Make customer obsession a reality in everything we do”.

Through Next Generation Engagement (NGE) we need to create deeper personalised customer connections, through co-ordinated strategies to amplify our impact and stand out from the crowd.

We must also listen to our patients, and bring their insights into the company so we can create tangible solutions that impact their lives.

10. Brilliant at the BASICS

Executional excellence will sustain our way forward. We need to sustain our traditional business model as the value generator and platform for innovation. We will strive for speed and simplicity. We need to build on our best practices and strive to be brilliant at the basics.

Case Study

11. Innovate for broad and early access

We need to partner with patients, customers and non-traditional partners to innovate within and beyond the healthcare system.

12. Preparing for TRANSFORMATION

The healthcare landscape is poised for disruption. Strategic partnerships and agility will be fundamental to our success in the emergent healthcare environment.
